O Level Additional Maths Home Tutors in Lahore

Additional Maths marks are lost in fewer places than people think. These are the main ones.

Additional Maths (4037) builds the algebra, differentiation, integration and series that A Level Pure Mathematics assumes. Students who take it often find the first term of A Level Maths (9709) familiar, and it adds to an application for engineering or science. It is an extra subject, so the extra load must be weighed against the main O Level subjects.

A worked example linking to A Level

Find the stationary points of y = x³ − 3x² + 2 and the area under y = x² from x = 1 to x = 3.

dy/dx = 3x² − 6x = 3x(x − 2), so x = 0 or x = 2. Then y = 2 at x = 0 and y = 8 − 12 + 2 = −2 at x = 2, so the points are (0, 2) and (2, −2). For the area, ∫x² dx = x³/3, so the area is 27/3 − 1/3 = 26/3, about 8.67 square units. The same two techniques appear on A Level Pure Mathematics Paper 1.
